Summary of key findings for parents
This provision is good The manager regularly seeks the views of parents and the local authority advisers about the service the club provides. This helps her to identify accurate targets that promote the vital skills children need to support them in school, and improve the club even further. Effective use is made of outings to stimulate and motivate children to learn. For example, staff take the children to the play park, bowling alley, zoo and farm. These type of activities help children to develop their social and physical skills well. Staff build effective relationships with children. For example, they give them verbal reassurance, smiles, praise and play alongside them as they try out something new. This helps children to feel valued and to engage in new experiences successfully. Staff provide clear guidance for children about what is and is not acceptable behaviour. They work with children to develop the rules for the club. This helps them to understand what the rules are and why they need them. Children behave well and show a high regard for one another. It is not yet outstanding because: Children do not always have sufficient equipment to share during planned group activities, and waiting to take turns sometimes spoils their enjoyment. Staff do not provide enough opportunities for children to gain a greater awareness of how they differ from, or are similar to, other people.
