Summary of key findings for parents
This provision is good The newly appointed manager works very closely with staff and the leadership team and demonstrates a clear vision for the holiday club. She actively seeks the views of others that help her to identify and address any emerging weaknesses in the club. Children actively engage in games and excitedly invite others to participate, including staff. They use props and pretend to act out the role of a hairdresser. Children behave well. They demonstrate good social skills as they share their resources and take turns to style each other’s hair. Children are provided with a wide range of healthy options during mealtimes. They show an interest in healthy foods and categorising these according to the appropriate food groups. Children develop good self-care skills and follow good hygiene practices. Staff encourage children to be physically active. They create outdoor activities, including ball games and racing games. This helps to promote children’s physical development. It is not yet outstanding because: Staff do not fully promote opportunities for children to use their home language during play. The manager has not fully implemented effective performance management systems that help to identify a precise programme of professional development for staff. The manager has not embedded an effective key-person system that helps to encourage young children to develop their confidence and self-esteem even further.
