Information about the setting
Highfield Day Nursery is one of 47 settings run by Child Base Nurseries and opened in 1997. It is on the Early Years Register and the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register. It operates from a large converted grade 2 listed building in Edgbaston, Birmingham. There is an area available for outdoor play. The nursery serves the local area. The nursery opens Monday to Friday for 51 weeks of the year. Sessions are from 7.30am to 6pm. Children attend for a variety of sessions. There are currently 145 children on roll. The nursery provides funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-olds. It supports children who speak English as an additional language. The nursery employs 35 members of childcare staff, 34 of whom hold appropriate early years qualifications at level 2 and 3. The manager has a qualification at level 4, and one member of staff has a foundation degree in early childhood studies. What the setting needs to do to improve further To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should: continue to find new and different ways to challenge children’s learning and extend their talents even further.
