Summary of key findings for parents
This provision is good The manager has a strong vision to drive practice in the nursery forward. She seeks and acts upon the views of staff, parents and children to continually identify areas that could be further enhanced. There are very good and well-organised policies and procedures in place which are implemented effectively, underpinning staff practice. Well-qualified staff know the children well. They use information from observations accurately to identify the next steps in children’s learning. Staff plan a wide range of activities that helps children build on what they know and can do. Parents are kept well informed about their child’s development by their key person and through accessing their child’s learning journal. Staff provide resources for parents to help them guide their children’s learning at home. This supports continuity in children’s learning and development. Children behave well and develop excellent social skills. For example, when children speak in their home language together, they remind each other to speak in English so that all children can join in their conversation. It is not yet outstanding because: Occasionally, staff do not consider how children of different ages can be fully involved when taking part in planned group activities together. Children’s meaningful play is sometimes interrupted by the organisation of daily routines. Methods for checking on staff performance are not embedded well enough to raise the quality of teaching to exceptional levels.
