Summary of key findings for parents
This provision is good • Staff provide a warm and welcoming environment for children. They display children’s bright and colourful artwork to help celebrate their successes. Staff help to raise children’s strong self-esteem and confidence. Children feel valued and demonstrate a secure sense of belonging. • Staff provide a safe environment for children and strongly support children’s personal, social and emotional development. Key persons escort children from school and help children to listen to and respect each other’s opinions when they play together. • The manager and staff have strong partnerships with parents and teachers from the local school. They exchange information that helps to support children to enjoy their play and enhance their general welfare. Parents report that staff are very approachable and the club provides an invaluable service. • Staff provide a quiet and comforting space for children who wish to relax and rest after their school day. For example, children take part in quieter activities, such as creative experiences, word searches and reading books. • The management team does not routinely record the improvements made to assess the impact on the club. • Performance management is not yet firmly embedded in order to clearly demonstrate how the quality of interactions with children are continually monitored and how the information gained is used to shape and support staff’s professional development.
